About this piece
I painted this piece after walking a boardwalk through the marshlands of Silicon Valley.
Though no swallows appear in the scene, I remember feeling the wind flowing in the direction of their nesting grounds, and that memory shaped the work.
To me, the boardwalk looked less like a trail and more like a runway—reaching upward into the sky.
I may not have wings, but I felt as if I were walking with the wind, ready to take off.
Walking with Swallows
Lyrics by Eimei
🎶【Verse 1】
Through the high-tech valley, the wind slips by,
Our days enclosed in a wired-up sky.
But even now, if we just look high—
The swallows are dancing, so let’s start to try.
Let’s walk this path with the wind in our stride.
🎶【Verse 1】
Caught in a net of digital ties,
Still, small lives stir where the marshland lies.
No wings, yet we know—we feel it inside:
The breath of wind reaches deep and wide.
Beyond this cage, the sky opens wide.
🎶【Chorus】
Across the sea of code we’ll fly,
To skies no program can define.
We’ll slip through networks, rise on air—
Unraveling dreams, the swallows there.
🎶【Verse 1】
Through the high-tech valley, the wind breaks through.
Now stepping out from the cage we knew—
We’ll take off today, at full speed ahead,
We’ll take off today, where the swallows led—
On the path we walk, with swallows instead.
