About this piece
I’ve lived in California for nearly 30 years, yet I was surprised to discover such a serene and beautiful place.
The Pulgas Water Temple stands as a quiet monument of gratitude, marking the end of the great Hetch Hetchy project that brought water to San Francisco.
Surrounded by classical architecture and open skies, the land radiated a peaceful, almost sacred stillness.
In contrast, the reflecting pool shimmered with unpredictable rhythms—eddies and ripples merging like a quiet, spontaneous dance of nature.
Capturing this gentle tension between stillness and motion became both the challenge and the joy of this painting.
